Biography
Ned Williamson was born October 24, 1857 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He debuted in the National League on May 1, 1878 with theIndianapolis Browns. He played for the Chicago White Stockings (nowknown as the Cubs) from 1879 to 1889. His final season was with theChicago Pirates of the Players League in 1890.
On March 8th, 1889, while playingwith touring major leaguers at Parc Aristotique in Paris, France, Nedsuffered a serious knee injury while sliding on the cinder playingfield. The injury disabled him until August 14th and effectively ended his days as a top player.
He died March 3, 1894 in Willow Springs, Arkansas and is buried in a paupers grave at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago.
